The Boise State Hockey Team has secured the #4 ranking in the eighth edition of the 2018-19 ACHA Men's Division 2 Rankings.

The Broncos (21-6-1) have started the second semester with a 5-1 record by sweeping University of Oregon and having a good showing at the Big Mountain Classic in Colorado over MLK weekend. The Broncos had a hick-up against #7 Grand Canyon falling to the Lopes 5-2. Following the loss the Broncos bounced back winning their final two games of the weekend by beating #10 ranked Dakota 2-1and a dominating win vs #19 ranked University of Colorado Boulder by a score of 7-1 on the road in Boulder.


The Big Mountain Classic shook things up in the West this past weekend.  Twelve of the top 20 teams in the West met to battle it out over five days.  The surprise was the new BYU (No. 8) jumping up five spots after going 3-1 in four weekend battles.  Williston (No. 5) went 4-0 for the weekend push themselves up three spots from No. 8.  Weber State moved up three spots to No. 14, from No. 17, with a strong 3-1 weekend. Northern Colorado (No. 2), Northern Arizona (No.3) and Boise State (No. 4) all had strong performances in the Classic.

These rankings will be used to determine the field of teams for the ACHA postseason tournaments.  The top two teams from each region will secure an automatic bid to the 2019 ACHA Men’s D2 National Championships. The third ranked team through tenth ranked team in each region will then participate in a Regional.  Two additional teams are included in the Regional, either with a League Autobid or Wild Card teams.  Two teams from each region will secure bids to the Nationals through these Regional Tournaments, completing the 16 team field. (via ACHA) Final Ranking will be released on February 13, 2019.

The Bronco's will play their final home games of the season this weekend as they take on Arizona State. Games are Saturday, Feb 2 at 12:30 PM at Centurylink Arena and Sunday, Feb 3 at 9:15am at Idaho Ice World. Saturday is Senior Day as we will honor the teams 6 seniors. The Boise State Hockey Team is proud members of the Pac-8 Hockey Conference of the American Collegiate Hockey Association competing at the ACHA D2 level.
