The Boise State Hockey Team has secured the #3 ranking in the third edition of the 2018-19 ACHA Men's Division 2 Rankings.
The Broncos (14-5-1) have struggled a bit lately going splitting games in their weekends vs Oregon, Weber St., and Eastern Washington University. The Broncos however did handle business in Seattle vs University of Washington and at home the "Putting Senior Hunger on Ice" Game vs Gonzaga.
West There was no change in the top four teams in the West this week. #1 University of Mary solidified their spot at #1 going 3-0-1 this past weekend at the Bee Hive Classic in Utah beating # 13 BYU, #7 CSU-Northridge and #4 Northern Arizona. Northern Colorado also proved themselves this past weekend with wins over Michigan State, #15 Weber State, and #4 Northern Arizona. CSU-Northridge jump five spots from #12 to #7 with 3 wins and a loss but the loss was to the top team in the land. Grand Canyon celebrated their acceptance in to D1 for the 2019-20 season by going 2-1-1 beat #12 Williston and tying #1 University of Mary. (via ACHA)
Next Ranking will be released on December 6, 2018.
These rankings will be used to determine the field of teams for the ACHA postseason tournaments. The top two teams from each region will secure an automatic bid to the 2019 ACHA Men’s D2 National Championships. The third ranked team through tenth ranked team in each region will then participate in a Regional. Two additional teams are included in the Regional, either with a League Autobid or Wild Card teams. Two teams from each region will secure bids to the Nationals through these Regional Tournaments, completing the 16 team field. (via ACHA) Final Ranking will be released on February 13, 2019.
The Bronco's have their second of three College Hockey in McCall weekends, this weekend as they take on #13 ranked BYU. Games are Friday Nov 30 and Saturday Dec 1 at 7pm. Games will be played at the Manchester Ice Arena in McCall, ID. Tickets can be found here, at the door, or on the Boise State Hockey Website.
